“What potential problems could you see with Coach carter’s coaching style”. if the boy’s did not respond to this coaching style they would have quit and there would not have been a team at all coach carter is lucky that the boys loved basketball and they wanted to play therefore coach carter got the results he did. another potential problem is that not everyone is suited to an autocratic coaching style there could have been more conflicts with the boys and their parents. this coaching style could also turn the boys of the game and make them quit sport all together.

Time management.

time management is needed in every day situations such as in the workforce it i also important for coaches. coaches usually only have 1.5 – 2.5 hours of coaching per session and it is up to them to find the most time effective methods to get everything completed. this is why it is important for all coaches to have some sort of a coaching plan for every session so they can get as much productivity out of their team. this is why at a coaching session there are different aspects such as warm up, skills, fitness and other task specific drills. it is important that the coach allocates time for each  of the these areas so the team gets a variety of coaching

Different Coaching styles

The three main coaching styles i have to use are :

  • AUTOCRATIC – Strict, make all decisions, in total control
  • DEMOCRATIC – Make decisions with players, more relaxed environment
  • LAISSE FAIRE – Relaxed, do not care too much

  1.  In School sport we would use the way of coaching known as Autocratic when trying to get the teams organised and seperasting girls from boys.
  2. we then would use democratic when deciding who will be off for the first few minutes, or who will be goal keeper if playing soccer or hockey etc.
  3. once playing the game we would use the style of Laisse Faire, because at school sport there is not such a thing as winning and losing, it is more for fun.

In Conclusion i believe these are the main three coaching styles we would use in yr. 7 sport.

coaching philosiphy

my philosiphy for sport is that, children at the age we are coaching, should be in sport for the fun factor, and not always about winning and losing! also if they enjoy the sport, that is when they should begin to take it more seriously, and compete at high levels.
